Welcome

A Forest Management Plan is fundamental for sustainable forest management planning. It is developed by an interdisciplinary approach, which requires a comprehensive overview of the forest region. In this online course, you will get to know how to prepare a forest management plan.

Learning goal: by the end of the course, you will be able to:
(a) Explain the concept of forest management plan and different types of plan; and (b) Conceptualise and prepare a forest management plan.

The course consists of five chapters:
Chapter 1: Introduction to Forest Management Plan
Chapter 2: Forest Inventory
Chapter 3: Forest Data Analyses
Chapter 4: Socio-Economic Data Collection
Chapter 5: Concept Diversity of Forest Management Plan

You can complete all five chapters one after the other. You can, however, also skip topics which you are familiar with and focus on your chosen content instead. You are suggested to plan roughly 1 hour over 7 days to complete this course.

This online course funded by DAAD (IVAC Project ID.57599274), is integrated into the module “Development of a forest region” of the M.Sc. program Tropical & International Forestry as a preparation for the fieldtrip. Therefore, no extra test or credit is provided for this online course. However, we kindly ask you to participate in the course evaluation, thus, helping us to improve.

We welcome you and we hope that you enjoy this journey!

Sincerely,
