GroIMP Module 1 English

Spoken text

In this context rendering means an image synthesis by which a picture is gained from raw data. In GroIMP, the 3D Model can be transformed into an image by different rendering methods.
The menu entry “Render View” gives us different options to choose from. But the “Twilight Renderer” will be shown as the only one because “POV-Ray Rendering” doesn’t work without a software installation of POV-Ray and the “Sunshine Raytracing” needs a lot of time. However, POV-Ray is available for free at the webpage http://www.povray.org/.

If we’re clicking on “Twilight”, we see that the program is starting to calculate and that the model is being depicted in front of a black background which should simulate night. The model wouldn’t be visible without a light source.
The Messages Window is depicting some statistics about the calculation and the conversion of the pixels, about the radiation and the light source and about the number of existing objects.
It’s important to know that the rendered picture will disappear if you change the camera view. Because of that, an option is available that offers the opportunity to save the picture into a file. It’s possible to choose the resolution and the file format of the image.
The last option of the Render View is the “Stop Option”. You can cancel a rendering if it takes too long.
