Data protection: 3-2-1 (9/10)
At the end of the course, we’d like to once more give you an important tip: regularly create backups. This applies first and foremost to your texts, but also to reference management programmes and other files. This way, in “emergency” situations, i.e. if there is a virus attack, if your laptop suddenly breaks down or gets stolen, or if you accidentally erase all data, your files will not be irretrievably lost. Our advice is the 3-2-1 rule:

Note that if you use commercial services such as Dropbox or Google Drive, you allow the providers to use your data for numerous purposes. Besides, if the servers are not located in Germany or Europe, they are not subject to the German or EU Law on data protection. We recommend using university cloud servers instead, e.g. GWDG ownCloud (for more information refer to StudIT-Support).
