Thesaurus (10/14)
With the help of a thesaurus you can:
- check correct spelling of terms you are not certain about;
- find other search terms that can be relevant to your topic.
In a thesaurus, subject headings are organised hierarchically, i.e. sorted by generic and specific terms, related terms and synonyms. In some databases, a thesaurus can also be referred to as “index”. Some subject areas offer comprehensive standardised thesauri as, e.g., the Thesaurus for the Social Sciences.
