The attribute preferences of the 2D Graph Layout are reachable by Layout -> Edit. The tree layout is predefined. Below the button “Apply Layout”, the preferences of the current layout are placed. In the tree-layout it’s for example possible to change the top-down and the left to right minimum distances between the nodes by the option “Minimum Distance” for the X and the Y axis.
If you want to use the alterations, you have to press the button “Apply Layout” and the graph will be redrawn.
Furthermore, it’s possible to switch between the top-down view and a view, which orders the objects from right to left. It’s also useful to fit the graph into the view. This option works like the Fit Visible function for the 3D View.
The “Transformation Steps” define if the redrawing should be shown in one or more steps.
If you want to use another layout, you can choose it from the top button and press “Apply Layout”. Then, the graph will be depicted in the new layout. The layout preferences vary between the different layouts.
